Why our clients use this partner
-
Speed
Our partner runs short production and delivery cycles, turns bids around for tight tender schedules, keeps qualified backup factories and times delivery to when the site is ready.
-
Compliance and specification
Its units are engineered to CSA, IEEE, IEC and ANSI standards, cUL and UL listed and built to NRCan and DOE efficiency, with standard documentation ready for approvals.
-
Engineering
It manages each order from design to delivery, factory tests every unit, ships shop drawings, test reports and installation manuals, and keeps warehouses and service teams in Canada and the US.
Lead times
-
Padmount transformers
75 kVA to 10 MVA
Three-phase, oil-filled, for utility, commercial and industrial sites.
About 9 weeks ex-factory
-
Dry-type transformers
15 kVA to 30 MVA, up to 36 kV
Cast resin and VPI, for indoor substations, data centres and commercial buildings.
8 to 16 weeks ex-factory
-
Power and substation transformers
1 MVA to 300 MVA+, up to 345 kV
Oil-filled units for generation, utilities, mining and heavy industry.
6 to 12 months
Typical lead times through our partner.
For comparison, Wood Mackenzie put average US lead times in Q2 2025 at about 30 weeks for distribution transformers and 128 weeks for power transformers. EE Power, August 2025
Standards and certification
Padmount units are UL, cUL and CSA certified, for use in the US and Canada. Power transformers are built to CSA, IEEE and ANSI standards, and our partner also engineers to IEC, the standard used in most other markets. Certification is confirmed on each quote.
In Canada, installed electrical equipment must carry the mark of a certification body accredited by the Standards Council of Canada, or an approved field evaluation label. Electrical Safety Authority: recognized certification marks

Common questions
How quickly can I get a padmount transformer?
Typically about 9 weeks ex-factory, confirmed on the quote.
Is 9 weeks the delivery date?
No. About 9 weeks is the typical time to leave the factory. Transit to your site depends on location and is confirmed on the quote.
Are these approved for use in Canada?
Padmount units are UL, cUL and CSA certified. For power transformers, certification is confirmed on each quote.
Can I get a power transformer in under a year?
Typically 6 to 12 months for power and substation transformers, confirmed on the quote.
Do you source dry-type transformers for data centres?
Yes, from 15 kVA to 30 MVA, typically 8 to 16 weeks ex-factory.
What sizes of transformer do you cover?
From 15 kVA to 300 MVA+: padmount, dry-type and power and substation transformers, with medium voltage switchgear and high voltage breakers.
Do you supply sites in the US?
Yes, for sites in Canada and the US. Our partner keeps warehouses and service teams in both.
What do I need to send for a quote?
The transformer type, the rating, the site and the date it is needed on site. Drawings or spec sheets can go to powergen@mccordinvestments.com.
