Power and industrial equipment sourcing

How we reach what the market will not list.

We find critical power and industrial equipment the open market does not list. One discontinued part or a whole power route.

Speed is how we operate. We act for the buyer.

Send a requirement

Model or part number. Configuration. Condition. Site. Required-on-site date.

This market is opaque by design. Nothing is listed. The holders do not advertise. What does surface usually comes through intermediaries who control nothing and can answer for less. We go straight to the holder.

Where the method came from

Built to see what a search cannot.

The work started on suspended and idle oil and gas facilities, where the only questions that mattered were what plant was still standing and what condition it was in. Satellite imagery answered part of that. The rest we built ourselves and have refined every year since: our own machine-assisted workflows for finding equipment that appears on no list and no register, pointed now at the power and industrial market.

The software narrows the field. People who have specified, inspected and moved this plant decide what is real. Neither half is useful without the other, and it is not access anyone can buy.

The range

One search. Either scale.

A whole power route

The generation and electrical equipment for a development the grid will not reach in time, sequenced against the energisation date. New build through established OEM relationships, existing units where the date needs them, and usually both at once.

Data centre developers, IPPs and EPCs.

A single part

Discontinued, obsolete, allocated, or simply not listed anywhere. Outage-critical, and wanted in days.

Procurement, operations and outage teams in oil and gas, utilities and heavy industry.

Where a project wants it, we bring in engineers and gas specialists who have delivered the same scope before. That is an add-on to the sourcing, taken on where it helps the date, and it is not a separate business.

Buyer aligned

One side of the table. We act for the buyer and manage conflicts before a route is opened.

Direct to the seller

Always the party that controls the equipment, whether that is an OEM holding an allocation or the owner of a unit that already exists. No chain of intermediaries in between.

Execution, not listings

The output is a verified route that can hold the date, not a long list of names.

The control system

A requirement moves only when the evidence does.

The method

Routes worked in parallel, against the date.

Route selected against date, evidence, delivery exposure, and total delivered scope.

The market is not treated as a catalogue. Routes that cannot be evidenced, delivered, or transacted are removed before a buyer is asked to spend time on them.

  1. 01 Specify Turn the operational need into a testable requirement: identity, configuration, duty, acceptable condition, site, and required-on-site date. Output Requirement basis
  2. 02 Map routes Work OEM and new-build and existing-equipment routes in parallel. The requirement determines which markets are searched and which routes are excluded. Output Market map
  3. 03 Test evidence Establish what the asset is, who controls it, what its records support, what is missing, and whether the stated route can survive scrutiny. Output Evidence basis
  4. 04 Control process Before protected information moves, establish buyer mandate, confidentiality path, conflict position, and the seller or OEM process. Output Executable process
  5. 05 Bring one route forward Present the route that best holds the date and requirement, with the relevant evidence, exposures, and next decision made explicit. Output Decision-ready route

Verification standard

A lead is not an option.

Market information is separated from evidence. A route advances only as far as the underlying records, counterparty authority, and process allow.

Identity
Model, configuration, serial or part reference, and package scope.
Control
Seller authority, ownership path, and ability to transact.
Condition
Hours, inspection history, preservation, records, or physical review where available.
Completeness
Auxiliaries, controls, documentation, spares, interfaces, and exclusions.
Delivery
Release conditions, freight path, site constraints, and date exposure.
Commercial process
Confidentiality, buyer mandate, seller procedure, and conflict control.

Evidence state

Stated
Reported by a source. Not yet supported by the relevant records or process.
Reviewed
Material information has been reviewed against the requirement.
Verified
Identity, authority, and core route facts have been confirmed to the extent the relevant process permits.

Labels describe the state of information at the time of review; they are not warranties.

Evidence is assessed to the extent the relevant asset, counterparty, and process permit. No equipment or availability claim is made until the relevant evidence has been reviewed.

Decision basis

The buyer receives a route, not a search diary.

The final comparison is built around the factors that determine whether an option can actually be bought and deployed.

The four factors a route is compared against before it is brought forward.
Required dateTechnical and condition basisDelivery and scope exposureCommercial path
Whether the route can credibly land at site when the requirement needs it.What the identity, configuration, records, condition evidence, and exclusions support. What must still be confirmed across release, freight, interfaces, auxiliaries, and commissioning responsibility.Who controls the route, what confidentiality applies, and what must happen next for the buyer to proceed.

Price matters. It is assessed alongside the path to ownership and operation, not in isolation.

What we source

Equipment class is not the limit. The requirement has to be specific enough to test, verify, and execute.

  1. Gas turbines and gensets

Complete units, packages, mobile or containerized sets, and bridge or prime-power applications.

Frequency, fuel, site conditions, package scope, and operating duty are confirmed before a supply path is assessed.

  2. Transformers, switchgear and balance of plant

Long-lead electrical blocks, substations, and equipment that can determine the project date.

Frequently the real constraint, not the turbine.

  3. Turbine parts and components

Part-number-led searches for outage-critical spares, exchange cores, and major components.

Part number, or it is not the same part.

  4. Heavy industrial assets

Plant and infrastructure equipment sourced through the same controlled process.

    Same basis, wider scope.

Technical review, when the route requires it

Sourcing leads. Specialist review is added to the decision.

Where configuration, site interface, fuel, grid, emissions, or delivery scope requires independent technical work, McCord coordinates the appropriate senior specialist alongside the sourcing process. Statutory assessments, permitting, and planning submissions remain separate scopes.

Send the requirement, not a meeting request.

Send the information you have. A part number helps; a rough equipment class can be enough to start. We will first establish whether a credible route exists.

  • Model, part number, or equipment class
  • Required configuration and acceptable condition
  • Capacity, frequency, voltage, or operating duty where relevant
  • Delivery site and required-on-site date
  • Whether funds are approved or the requirement is still being costed

Normal procurement remains in place. McCord is engaged where a requirement needs a route the listed market does not offer.
