Route to power. Community diesel plants. Qulliq Energy runs 25 stand-alone community diesel plants totalling about 84 MW, with no transmission between them.

How you connect

There is no territorial grid. Each community has its own small system on a diesel plant sized to local demand, so a large load would need new generation built for it in that community.

Your own power

Allowed. Qulliq Energy applied in 2025 for a standby rate for sites that make their own power but keep a connection for backup. The rates council recommended approval in October 2025 at $86.35 per kW a month; the minister has not yet decided. Qulliq Energy is gathering information on micro modular reactors but has no project under way.
