Route to power. Isolated hydro grid. The Yukon Utilities Board approved most of a 2025 to 2027 rate application covering more than $350 million of spending on 2026-01-20, covering a grid battery, backup diesel and replacement work rather than capacity for new large loads.
The grid
The Yukon grid is not connected to the rest of North America. Most of its power comes from hydro: the Whitehorse plant has 40 MW in summer and Aishihik 37 MW, with LNG and rented diesel as backup.
How you connect
There is no published process for a large new load. You would work with Yukon Energy on what the system can carry. Large mines have connected under their own power purchase agreements with Yukon Energy. There is no data centre rate.
